[This is a story I wrote as part of a creative writing assignment. I was given a cube with some pictures on each side. The requirement was, write a story based on those pictures. Also, make sure, the items in the pictures are mentioned (in bold) in the story. The result is this totally silly story.]

It was getting dark. King Arthur decided to halt for the night. After receiving all kinds of taunts from the Frenchmen who were forcefully occupying a castle in England, the king and his knights were tired and hungry. They saw another castle like structure in a little distance. Everyone was excited with the anticipation of a decent meal and a good rest. They pounded on the big black door. The door opened automatically with some creaking noise. They could not see anyone at first. The room was dimly lit. Sir Lancelot called out, “Is anyone here? In the name of King Arthur, the king of all of Briton, come forward and show yourselves.” Slowly, few men, women and children came out. They were hiding in the corners. Sir Lancelot said, “The king is here and he wants to speak with your leader.” One young boy, seemed like a teenager, shouted something at his people and they all laid down flat on their bellies, heads down, hands and legs stretched fully to show their obedience and respect to the king. One puny little boy remained standing and kept looking at the king curiously. A man raised his head from the floor, admonished the boy, and then they both laid down the same way as the others. Sir Lancelot asked them to rise. They all got up and started to chatter among themselves in some foreign tongue. Sir Lancelot asked who was the leader and wanted to talk with him. The teenager came forward and said, he was not the leader but he was the only one spoke and understood King’s language better than the others. Sir Lancelot asked who lived in the castle. The young boy said, besides the ground floor, all other floors were occupied by the ghosts. There were no entrances to any other floors. And, the ghosts did not bother them. King and his knights were amused. Anyway Sir Lancelot asked them if they could prepare some food for the king and the knights. The boy shouted something to his people again. They put some new woods and sprinkled something in the fire causing it to rise high and the room lit up brightly in many different colors. The knights were amazed. They realized, the room had many mirrors on its walls and the lights were reflecting from them. The women prepared and served the food. The food included a big pot of spicy food with lentils, octopus, squids, crabs, fish and potatoes mixed together. The boy apologized as they did not have any meat to serve. The king and his knights had hard time eating food with so much strong smelling and weird tasting spices. They had a harder time after the meal when they all needed to visit outhouses urgently for multiple times. The boy and his people were surprised with this chaos. Anyway, after everything calmed down a little, the women made sleeping arrangement for the king and his Knights. The young boy came to Sir Lancelot and said politely, that his leader apologized that due to a short notice they could not prepare more proper and delicious food. The leader would very much like to request that the king and his companions kindly stayed for breakfast. The women would cook all kinds of delicious food with exotic and aromatic spices. The King looked at his knights and saw the fear he had never seen before on his knights’ faces. The king understood. He thanked the boy and the leader for a delicious food and nice beds, but apologized. He and his knights must leave very early in the morning for an urgent matter and not be able to stay for a wonderful and more delicious breakfast. To show his appreciation, the king handed a shield to the leader as a gift. The leader and all his people fell on their bellies once again to show their gratitude to the king. After leaving the castle, the king wanted to know who those people were, where did they come from and what they were doing in England? Sir Robin said, ‘ Do not know exactly, Sire. They might be related to the people from a distant land part of which Alexander the Great once invaded and conquered part of it but did not continue to invade the rest as he left in a hurry.” After a brief pause, he added, “I wonder why he left in such a hurry, I suspect it could have been the spicy food, sire.”
